I wanted to find something to share this week that really proved that less is more. These are some of the best examples i've seen in a while, and the best ones that i could come across. This series was created for science day in India. I think it's really important to remind yourself that you don't always need a thousand layers, gradients, typefaces and anything else you can throw onto your document. I'm not saying these were easy to come up with, but if you strip down your thought process to "less is more" it may help to design something that's a bit more funny and clever.
WOW! Yes I totally agree that less is more! Especially in logos or anything is design, because once you start to strip away and really take something apart it can really make something beautiful. I really like the simplicity of these posters. The Darwin one reminds me of the eye doctor exam for some reason? My favorite out of all them is the last one. I like that its in all caps, and that they used the triangle as a letter. So clever! I also like the size too. Very clean.
ReplyDeleteLess is more is a way to think about distilling your ideas down to the most essential elements, isn't it? Also, I think these are good examples of "connecting the dots" between content and the "understanding" of content in visual terms. Great - and a good example to inspire the work on the final projects I think.
ReplyDeleteI agree. And this is great inspiration for the final project, and for the logo. I think as designers sometimes we fall so in love with the idea and what were designing that we can't take away and slim the design down. At least that's what happens to me? But there is always room for improvement and refining, and breaking down.
DeleteConstruction and de-construction and re-construction... with new meanings and perspectives. Synthesizing the essence of the idea is important as you work, rework, and refine your designs. It's a messy process - but important if you want to be a creative designer.
