Even though this was one of our exercises a few weeks ago.. I just came across it! I really liked this design, however, once listening to the song it was very hard to follow. But that doesn't mean it's not an unbelievable design! The scattered letters make it a lot more confusing than it should be though. Here is the song..
Tool - Parabola. What do you guys think?!
I agree. With the song it is hard to follow. But it kinda works though, because the song is starts off slow and creepy then it speeds up and therefore the big black letters and type overlapping works. I also like that use of only blacks and white. It works for the song.
ReplyDeleteSo, I looked really closely at these designs, to discover what combination of fonts are used. I found only geometric sans serif and geometric serif fonts - which means that each font has a machine-like quality to their design (rather than organic) and I think it unifies the page design in a big way. Do you see? There are no thick and thin strokes to the letters... instead the letters are a uniform thickness, even the serifs are uniform slab serifs. If you don't know what I'm talking about - watch the video Carissa posted above. Anyway - these are great example of expressive type... and although the layouts look messy - they are very intentionally done. Nice.
